PHILADELPHIA (May 8, 2002) - The passage was long and the docking difficult, but the boat bringing Buca di Beppo from post-War Naples to Philadelphia has finally arrived-and the timing couldn't be better!  The homemade marinara is at its peak, spaghetti and ravioli overflow from family platters and the Chicken Cacciatore is so tender it's almost falling off the bone.

Welcome to Buca di Beppo restaurant...

...where the family recipes of Executive Chef and Calabria, Italy native Vittorio Renda are about to seduce Philadelphia with an experience that the San Jose Mercury News described as "vital, vibrant and powerfully flavored."

...where the boisterous, unpretentious atmosphere evokes the spirit of Italian-American supper clubs of the 1940s and '50s;

...where you'll feel Italian even if you aren't.

From the vintage family photos crowding mementos of Italian icons Sophia Loren and Joe DiMaggio

...to the strains of Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra

...to the Sistine splendor of the "Pope's Table" to the aroma of garlic-filled immigrant Southern Italian food, Buca di Beppo is bringing the passion and flavor of Little Italy to Philadelphia.

"Even many long-time Buca di Beppo guests might not know that 'Buca' means basement. Basements are a traditional location for Italian restaurants," said Joseph P. Micatrotto, BUCA, Inc. chairman, CEO and president.  "The new Philadelphia restaurant is the latest incarnation of the first 'Buca' I ever experienced-the one my grandfather ran in the basement of our apartment building in Cleveland's Little Italy.  Each time I walk in the door it's like coming home for me."
