Philadelphia, PA
- On Saturday November 4, 2000, Center City Proprietors Association
(CCPA) premieres the first black-tie Philadelphia Film Limousine Scavenger
Hunt, benefiting the Greater Philadelphia Film Office. The event features:
revelers enjoying cocktails, then forming teams and traveling in limousines
to unravel riddles about Philadelphia films and the Center City locations
where they were filmed. With proof of riddles solved, limo teams return
to City Hall for a victory party with dancing, dessert, and fabulous
prizes for the fastest and cleverest teams.
Movies have been enormously successful in bringing glamour, glitz,
positive press and economic growth to greater Philadelphia. However,
the office responsible for bringing movies to town and facilitating
their stay is not sufficiently funded, noted Krista Bard, CCPA
President. The total revenue brought to the region due to film
& video production since 1992 is approximately $250 million dollars.
It is crucial to the regions continued economic vitality that
we all do our part to support the film industry in Philadelphia.
Sharon Pinkenson, Executive Director of the Greater Philadelphia Film
Office, is delighted with the idea for the November 4th event. Pinkenson
says, "It is so gratifying that our friends and colleagues at the
Center City Proprietors Association have decided to recognize our contribution
to the economy of the region with this spectacular event. Not only will
the scavenger hunt and party be a memorable night for everyone participating,
but the evenings proceeds will enable us to continue to put Philadelphia
on the silver screen and create lucrative jobs for Philadelphians in
the world's most exciting industry."
Center City on the Silver Screen is open to the public. Tickets for
the Cocktail Party, the Scavenger Hunt (includes all three), and the
Victory Party are respectively: $25, $150, $50. Highlights of the incredible
prizes include: Chefs Table dinner at Striped Bass, a Weekend
in Hollywood, six stunning designs from the Lagos Heart of Philadelphia
Collection, six of the most fashionable $100 gift certificates ever
from Nicole Miller. Tickets may be purchased by calling CCPA at 215-545-7766.
Center City Proprietors Association was founded in 1978, to foster
communication, cooperation, education and services among the small business
of Center City Philadelphia, and to maintain, promote and improve the
commercial vitality of Center City Philadelphia. CCPA is proud to have
nurtured and contributed to the creation of many great ideas in Center
City including: the Center City District, the Friere Charter School,
model programs to help the homeless, The Book & The Cook Festival,
street vendor guidelines, and Fall into Fashion, City Strolls, Meet
the Press, and Secrets of the Citys Best seminars.
The Greater Philadelphia Film Office mission is three-fold. First, it
serves to attract film and video production of every kind to the region,
including everything from feature films to TV commercials to music videos
and industrial films. Second, it provides the producer free assistance
with parking, permits, hotels, labor, locations and generally acts as
liaison between the production and the local community, cutting red
tape. Finally, it serves to grow the local film and video industry in
every way possible, recognizing its huge economic impact in job creation
and its unparalleled public relations effects for the region.
